Alan Mercel-Sanca is a UK-based internationally recognised artist, who specializes in graphite and watercolour pencil drawings as a main artistic medium.

Alan is fascinated by the light and tones of woodland, and has drawn these extensively. This site includes a selection of drawings from British woodlands.

Other work includes architectural, landscape and seascape, and in particular works derived from travels in the Far East.

He is also a professional portrait artist: commissions have included the portrait of the renowned UK and international cartoonist, Steven Appleby.

• Alan is establishing and developing his artist profile in the Far East, due to the inspiration he gains from its culture, people, and landscapes, with which he has a personal and spiritual affinity. Concerning his recent visit to Taipei, Alan would like to thank Mr Raymond Wang and the internationally renowned Jia Art Gallery for their much appreciated support and positive appraisal of his art.

• On September 5th 2008 Alan's work featured as part of a news report on Taiwanese Television channel, Taiwan Macroview TV: the artist's deep respect for and use of traditional Chinese art concepts (Yin - Yang, etc), as exemplified in his work - The Tea-house - included on this website, were praised in the report for following in the high tradition of classical Chinese fine art.
